Economy, AI & Social Change

Back to calendar

From Friday 6 to Tuesday 10 November, people from research, policy and civil society will meet at Hostačov, a Renaissance château in the Czech Highlands just over an hour from Prague. About 30 people have signed up so far. About 20 places remain. Together we will look at what happens to jobs, wages and bargaining power as AI spreads through firms and labour markets. We will also ask which policies could shape who captures the gains.

‍

Contributors include:

  • Emilie Vestergaard, University of Copenhagen, on Danish evidence about AI chatbots and earnings
  • Zdeněk Rosenberg, Chief Economist, Czech Priorities
  • Benjamin Schmidt, Co-lead, PauseAI Germany
  • Aída Ponce Del Castillo, European Trade Union Institute, joining online on Friday to speak about algorithmic management and how workers can challenge automated decisions

‍

Friday evening opens with short talks that set out the main disagreements. From Saturday, participants propose and lead most sessions, so students can test their own research questions with people from policy and civil society.

‍

Each place includes a bed in a shared room and all meals, which are vegetarian with vegan options.

‍

Participants can come for the weekend or stay until Tuesday.
